SPOOKTACULAR FAMILY MUSICAL COMES TO THE FRUIT MARKET FOR HALF TERM

The Fruit Market’s Autumn Pop Up Play Season continues with the upcoming family musical, The Lightless Pumpkin.

Produced by East Yorkshire-based all-female collective She Productions, The Lightless Pumpkin tells the story of a runaway pumpkin who helps others to welcome diversity and uniqueness.

Coming to Hull’s Fruit Market district on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November, the show begins with a parade along Humber Street with the audience led by “The BanSHEs” – an eccentric group of mysterious fairies – who will weave the tale of the lonely, lightless pumpkin who runs away from the pumpkin patch.

Theatre-goers will join the parade and meet new characters along the way.

These promenade shows are designed to avoid audiences having to sit in one place for too long, immersing people into the story.

She Productions’ member and writer, Jessica Duffield said: “It’s so exciting that, what began 4 years ago, is growing and reaching new audiences in Hull and the East Riding.

“It’s wonderful to see young people engaging in theatre and we hope to continue bringing in new generations of audiences and artists for years to come!”

Supported by Arts Council England, She Productions have created a programme of interactive and informal productions to enable children to experience the magic of theatre from a young age.

Other productions include The Lightless Pumpkin Returns showing at Beverley’s East Riding Theatre in October, followed by new Christmas play, The Fairy That Fell Off the Christmas Tree, which premiers in December in East Riding Theatre’s café bar,

The promenade down Humber Street is accessible for wheelchair users and will be guided by show assistants.

The audience are encouraged to wear Halloween-themed fancy dress and even bring a pumpkin for the parade.

The Lightless Pumpkin runs on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November, 2pm and 4pm at 66-68 Humber Street, Hull, HU1 1UU.
